Payroll

Important FMLA Information

Lake Norman will continue to use FMLASource for Leave of Absence (LOA) administration and all current files and information will transfer seamlessly to the new system. Team members with existing leaves will not need to complete any additional paperwork.

Starting April 1, team members will no longer be able to access FMLA information through their current FMLASource accounts. Instead, they will need to visit the Leave of Absence website and log in to the system using their Duke credentials.

If you have questions about FMLA, please contact the Leave of Absence Program Manager, LOA.DUHS@duke.edu.

Setting up Direct Deposit

The deadline to set up your Direct Deposit information is April 4. Login to Duke@Work and go to the My Pay section, then select Create/Update my Bank Account for Direct Deposit.

Note: When setting up your direct deposit, one thing that can be quite confusing is the display of the last four digits of your Social Security number. You’ll notice that there are four dots or stars in that space, which may seem like it has already been prefilled. Please delete those dots or stars and replace them with the last four digits of your Social Security number so that it can save properly.

Pay Details

We recognize that this is a different pay schedule than the one you had with CHS/Lake Norman. To minimize any impact to your income and help bridge the gap in pay, Duke will provide a $1,000 pay supplement to full-time and part-time employees in the first paycheck. PRN staff will receive a $200 supplemental payment.

The one-time $1,000 supplement for full-time and part-time employees and $200 supplement for PRNs will be in the April 18 paycheck for nonexempt employees and the April 25 paycheck for exempt employees.

For nonexempt employees, the “full first premium” supplement will be paid in the April 18 paycheck and will cover April medical April and May dental and April and May vision. Employees may also receive the medical “delta” supplement to offset the cost of medical in this paycheck that would continue until November. Starting May 16, nonexempt employees will receive their combined “delta” supplement for medical, dental and vision.

For exempt employees, the “full first premium” supplement will be paid in April 25 paycheck and will cover April medical, dental and vision. Also in April, exempt employees will receive the combined “delta supplement” for medical, dental and vision. The delta supplement will continue until November.

Pay Periods

Today, all CHS / Lake Norman employees are paid on a biweekly basis regardless of whether they are exempt or nonexempt.

At Duke, nonexempt employees are paid biweekly and exempt employees are paid monthly.

  • CHS will pay employees for time worked March 23-31. This will be a partial paycheck, paid on April 11, as March 23 – 31 is not a full pay period.
  • Duke will pay the first biweekly paycheck on April 18 for time worked April 1-6, which is also a partial pay period.
  • The first full biweekly paycheck from Duke will be paid May 2 for time worked April 7-20.
  • The monthly paycheck will be paid on April 25 for the month of April. This paycheck will cover the entire pay period.

We want to ensure you understand your pay schedule based on your employment classification: biweekly or monthly.
